Our Public Witness

Grace Episcopal Church, Molokai

"The alien who resides with you shall be to you as the citizen among you; you shall love the alien as yourself, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God."
— Leviticus 19:34

Theological Grounding

At Grace Church, we are guided by our Baptismal Covenant to "strive for justice and peace among all people, and respect the dignity of every human being." We believe the Gospel calls us to be a voice for those who have been silenced and a sanctuary for those in fear.

Our Stance & Alignment

In solidarity with the Presiding Bishop and the General Convention of the Episcopal Church, we express deep concern regarding national policies that threaten human dignity. Specifically, we stand in opposition to:

  • Mass Deportations: We uphold the sanctity of the family and the biblical mandate to welcome the stranger.
  • Environmental Degradation: As residents of Molokai, we are stewards of the ‘Aina and support policies that address the climate crisis.
  • Erosion of Human Rights: We advocate for the protection of all marginalized groups, ensuring that the "least of these" are prioritized in our civic life.

Faith in Action

Connect with the Episcopal Church's national advocacy efforts and stay informed on how to help.

Office of Gov. Relations Migration Ministries Bishop's Message

A Prayer for Our Nation

O God, you have bound us together in a common life. Help us, in the midst of our struggles for justice and truth, to confront one another without hatred or bitterness, and to work together with forbearance and respect; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
