The first week and a half of my vacation was helping my sister Jan get settled in the Longterm Care Facility and emptying her apartment. Finding homes for you treasures - yes, including a couple of Thrift Shops and family members and friends.
Photos from my visit to Tyler, MN - where my Dad served and we lived from 1966 - 1970 (I was ages 11 - 15) The church is Danebod Lutheran and was a traditionally Danish Church. When we lived there some of the older women met in a Danish Women's Circle. My Dad was their first non-Danish pastor.
Top row - from the Lodge where I stayed. This was added to the property to add accessible rooms.
Second row - the old stone church and the inside which is now a museum for the Church and its history. And the gymnasium!
Third row - the Folk School. Originally used to help Danish immigrants enter American culture while maintaining their own culture. Now multi-functional, including summer cultural camps. The middle picture the parsonage - a wonderful old house with lots of spaces to occupy and explore. The church building is the right photo in the third row.
Fourth row - inside the church, which is created to look like a ship and hanging from the center, a ship. Beautifully kept and maintained.
